What we collect, and what we don’t.

Last updated: 2026-09-21. This policy covers the Kondate app and this website. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The app collects nothing

Kondate works offline. Recipes, your shopping list, what is in your kitchen and which shop you use are stored in a database on your own phone and are not transmitted to us. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising identifier and no crash reporting that carries your data off the device. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it, and we have no copy to delete on our side.

If that changes — if syncing between your own devices ships, for example — this policy changes first, and the app will ask before anything leaves the phone.

The website asks you for nothing

There is no form on this site, no sign-up and no account. We do not ask you for an email address and there is nowhere for you to give us one, so there is no list you can be on. The one thing that happens without you choosing it is the request your browser makes to load the page, which is covered below.

That request is the only record your visit leaves anywhere. Who handles it, and what they can see while they do, is set out below.

Cookies, and what our host can see

We set no cookies of our own, and the typefaces are served from our own server rather than from Google Fonts, so nothing on the page is fetched from a third-party domain.

Two things Cloudflare does on our behalf touch the page before it reaches you. It screens requests for automated abuse, which can set a cookie in your browser to remember that your request already passed that check, and it scrambles our email address in the page so that address harvesters cannot read it, which is why the contact link needs JavaScript to open. Neither identifies you to us, and neither is used to count, profile or follow you.

There is no analytics script on this page and nothing in your browser is counting you. If that changes we will say so here first, and it will be something cookie-less that cannot recognise you on a second visit or follow you elsewhere.

It does, of course, make a request to us. This site is served by Render, sitting behind Cloudflare, and delivering a page means both of them handle that request — which includes your IP address and the browser string your device sends. What we see from it is aggregate: roughly how many visits there were. We see totals, not people. We have no per-visitor logs and no way to work out who you are from any of it.

What they retain, and for how long, is governed by Render's privacy policy and Cloudflare's rather than by us.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. In practice we hold nothing: the app keeps your data on your own device and this site asks you for nothing. If you think we hold something anyway, write to [email protected] and we will action it within 30 days.

If you are in Japan, the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) applies to how we handle your information. If you are in the EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the rights above plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Children

Kondate is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date at the top, and if you are on the waitlist we will tell you before the change takes effect.
